As well as having dedicated Computer Science lessons on the timetable, children use computers in a wide range of applications across the Port Regis campus.
We have five Computer Science suites:
- Senior Computer Room in the Cunningham building
- Junior Computer Room in the Mansion
- Library suite
- Design Computer Suite in the Cunningham building
- Upward Computer Room
It is becoming ever more important for today’s schoolchildren to grow up with an appreciation of the power of Computer Science. Pupils at Port Regis from the Pre-Prep up to the A Form are encouraged to develop their computer skills across the curriculum. As well as being introduced to a wide range of subject-specific software, all pupils are expected to be able to use the sorts of software that they will need at senior school and in later life, including:
- Word processing software
- Presentation software
- Web browsers
- Graphics packages
Pupils who show particular interest in Computer Science also have the opportunity to learn to do some coding and make video games.
It is important to us that all Portregians leave the school feeling confident with computers and having an understanding of how to use Computer Science safely, appropriately and effectively.
The Computer Science Co-ordinator is John Viner, who also runs the school intranet.
