All children at Port Regis get the chance to tread the boards at least once a year in our Centenary Hall which doubles up as a 350-seat theatre. Drama appears on the children’s timetables in Years 3, 4 and 5 (F, E and D Forms) and there is also an opportunity for Year 5 and above to study for LAMDA exams with visiting specialist drama tutors. The school has an enviable record of drama scholarships to senior schools, including all-rounder scholarships with drama as a key element.
In the Autumn Term, Years 5 and 6 (D and C Forms) put on a special double bill, with a short play, in which all D Form children feature, followed by a traditional Christmas pantomime.
In the Spring Term, pupils in Years 7 and 8 (B and A Forms) audition for parts in the major production of the year.
In the Summer Term, Years 3 and 4 (F and E Forms) put on a production in which every Lower School child will feature.
Older pupils are also given the opportunity to work in the light and sound box and to be part of the backstage crew.
