Swimming is a skill for life regardless of age. We are committed to providing first class swimming lessons for all abilities and we achieve this through highly qualified and experienced staff and lesson structures that are appropriate to age and current swimming ability.
Rookie Lifeguards is aimed at 8-12 year-olds to provide a fun and safe way of learning lifesaving skills and water safety. It is a natural progression from formal swimming lessons and is now integrated into the Amateur Swimming Association's (ASA) National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS) as one of the options in Stage 8, 9 and 10. Children can join at any age from 8 years old progress through the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Based in the pool, Rookies get to practise skills in a fun learning environment and sessions usually include a mix of swimming, lifesaving skills, personal safety, competitions and resuscitation.
Pre-School Lessons have been designed to teach younger children (aged two-four years), water confidence and basic front and back propulsion. These lessons take place in small groups with a qualified and experienced instructor in the water. (Parents/Guardians are not required to swim with the children.)
The course runs for eight consecutive weeks throughout the year and lessons are for 30 minutes each. To register your child for swimming lessons please read this brochure and complete the application form which is also available from the Sports Club Reception. If we do not have a place available immediately, your child’s name will be put on our waiting list and we will contact you once a place becomes available.
Cost: £60.00 per ten-week course.
Whether you wish to learn to swim, improve one or all of your strokes or wow your friends with the butterfly, one-to-one coaching is available for both adults and children.
