Where can I get a Busy Bees Holiday Club brochure?

The Busy Bees Holiday Club brochure is available upon request from Motcombe Park Sports Club and also from the Port Regis Pre-Prep & Nursery. If your child has attended Busy Bees within the past two years, you will automatically be placed onto our mailing list – please notify us of any address changes.

What will my child do at Busy Bees?

Alongside our wealth of arts and crafts, free play, story time and nature walks, we have a daily programme of activities. On Monday morning and Friday afternoon, children enjoy cooking. On Tuesday, we endeavour to take the children on a day trip in keeping with the theme of the week. On Wednesday afternoon, children swim...so don’t forget your child’s swimming kit. On Thursday afternoon, children have fun in Forest School, which can get muddy...so please remember to pack wellies.

What time can I drop my child off?

Staff will be available to supervise from 08:30.

What food should I provide for my child?

If your child is not having Busy Bees Hot Lunches, please include a packed lunch which does not require refrigeration (if your child is staying for the day). Break drinks and snacks will be provided.

As a fussy eater, will my child still be able to have hot lunches?

Yes, there are three Busy Bees Hot Lunch choices including a vegetarian option. A salad bar is also available with a variety of cold meats, cheese, potatoes and pasta. Staff supervise children throughout the meal and encourage a well-balanced meal of protein, carbohydrates and of course, vegetables.

What should my child wear?

Not best clothes! Warm clothes are required for the colder months. We endeavour to take the children out for walks as much as possible, so please do pack wellies and a waterproof jacket. During the warmer months, light-weight clothing and a hat are ideal.

What happens if my child cannot swim?

A qualified swimming teacher and assistants are present, in the water, throughout all our swimming sessions. Children remain in armbands throughout and the sessions are planned with the children’s age and ability in mind.

Do you provide sunscreen?

Sunscreen is available, although we would prefer that children arrive with sunscreen already applied. Staff will ensure that regular sunscreen applications are made throughout the day and will assist those children that need help putting it on. If your child has allergies and requires a particular sunscreen to be used, please ensure that it is provided.

What is the Staff-Child Ratio?

We operate under Ofsted guidelines of one member of staff to a maximum of eight children.

What happens if my child becomes unwell?

Staff will notify parents immediately to arrange for the child to be collected. If the group is on a trip, parents will be contacted ASAP and, if necessary, the whole party will return to school immediately unless the child can be collected from the trip location. Children who are ill prior to trip should not attend Busy Bees.

As soon as dates and times are confirmed, we are happy to take bookings.
