At Port Regis we are passionate about breadth. Alongside the core subjects of English, mathematics and science, each child’s academic experience here will feature languages (at least one modern and at least one ancient), geography, history, and religious studies, leading to formal exams in the Summer Term of the A Form (Year 8). With a commitment to breadth such as this, our policy is to recruit the very best teachers who are not only highly qualified and experienced subject specialists, but who have the ability to inspire and nurture the pupils in their classes.
When you look at your child’s timetable you will also see plenty of other subjects which for most children do not ultimately lead to an exam: art, ceramics, music, drama, craft, design, technology, computer science, physical education and our renowned weekly Life Skills course through which PSHE is delivered. Many pupils win 13+ scholarships to their senior schools in one or more of these fields, but Port Regis life is about so much more than winning awards: we want all pupils to find a passion here, whatever their level, and we work hard to make sure they are given the opportunities to develop it.
